Hey, this community is great. I definitely plan to do a RAOK every day next year. I think I do them almost every day this year, but to do them consciously and to document them will be neat. I'm trying to think of as many things I can do (in case an idea doesn't present itself on a certain day) so if you could comment that'd be great. If there are a lot of comments I can then edit my entry and type them all up so this can be a reference to others who are lacking some ideas.

Hundreds of thousands of people need your help, now!!!
MAKE THE GENOCIDE STOP! In Africa, there is a terrible civil war raging! Just like how Hilter led his mission to furthur the "master race," there is an "ethic clensing" going on in Dafur, Sudan. People are being raped, brutalized, and slaughtered just because of their heritage! Over 2 million people have been displaced and hundreds of thousands have died!

Support Sudan! Write Bush or your Senator today!

Even bigger? Email your mayor and Govener!

Every day most of us encounter people employed to serve us. Waiters, Line workers, Cashiers, cab drivers, Receptionist. Having worked in several of these costumer service situations, I know how often one can be treated curtly, treated like a machine.
Sometimes, it's nice to break the norm, and brighten someone's day with some sort of personal connection, some way of recognizing the person on the other end of the phone or counter is every bit as much of a valid human being as you are.
Sometimes, in a costumer service job, one person who goes that extra inch to reach out can be a ray of sunshine in a mob of jackasses.

Who do you reach out to? How?

Well, what do you think?
I'm not sure about the theme, so if you hate it, now is the time to tell me.
You can do that non-anonymously.
I kind of like my idealistic Icon for this entry :o).

But, even more importantly, Tell me about the first random act of kindness you can remember witnessing.
Or, better yet, being the subject of...
or, and, please, anonymously, the first random act of kindness you can remember committing.
Elaborate, please!
